German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas called on his colleagues to abandon the principle of unanimous voting and veto on a number of issues in the European Union.

Now, if anyone does not know, all decisions in the European Union are made exclusively unanimously.

Therefore, by the way, when some European politicians say that they wholeheartedly support Russia, so let's cancel Russian counter-sanctions against European products, they are very misguided.

Because they all take the decision to extend the anti-Russian sanctions unanimously.

But when it comes to their own selfish interests, Eastern European countries remember the principle of unanimous voting and beat out good economic preferences for themselves.

It looks like Germany is tired of paying for everyone.

In general, there is a feeling that in Berlin they finally realized that they played enough with democracy, multiculturalism and tolerance. Perhaps the economic collapse helped. Practice has shown that such a concept does not work in difficult times. All these artificial political, economic and cultural constructions are suitable exclusively for existence in greenhouse conditions, when there is nowhere to put money so much that negative rates on deposits are introduced, and the economy is growing steadily and steadily, and at the same time there are no real threats - neither military nor epidemic nor migratory. Simply put, all these formulas of a large and friendly European family can exist only in laboratory conditions in the absence of pressure and atmosphere.

As soon as the slightest political and economic turbulence begins, the principle of the European family ceases to work.

And in a real family, by the way, tough decisions are also required in a difficult situation.

The very truth of life tells Europeans today that they have played with their castles in the air in pink glasses.

It does not happen that the weak can seriously contradict the strong and dictate their will to them, block the decisions of those who own the resources, which means that the power belongs.

There is no doubt that today the whole world is in a deep phase of reformatting relations.

Our president has repeatedly called for the revival and real meaning of the UN institutions, but it seems that until the United States is faced with really serious problems, they will continue to try to act without regard to anyone's opinion.

It seems that the time has come for the European Union to dot the i's.

A few years ago, the concept of Europe of different speeds was raised.

Germany cannot pull on the whole of Europe without receiving any political dividends.

So the topic of reformatting the European Union has been in the air for a long time.

It seems that the head of the FRG Foreign Ministry told the truth, which everyone has long realized, but they were simply afraid to voice it.

What is the significance of the likely abolition of unanimity in the EU for Russia?

I believe that it is extremely positive.

If Germany forbids the Young Europeans to veto their decisions, it will weaken the influence of the United States in Europe and strengthen the position of Berlin.

Now everyone understands that if the Baltic countries or Poland vote against any common European document, they do it on the insistent instructions from Washington.

The story of the construction of Nord Stream 2 has finally shown that the economic interests of Germany and the United States not only do not coincide, but in many respects contradict each other.

Of course, such radical political transformations within the EU cannot but activate the parade of sovereignty that has long been balancing at the start.

But, apparently, this is a historical pattern.

“In order to unite, you first need to dissociate yourself,” as Vladimir Ilyich Lenin used to say.

And one more plus for Russia - finally, our western neighbors are concerned with their internal issues.

Let them do it.
