An aquarium in Kagoshima City attached a camera to the sunfish and returned it to the sea, and then recovered the camera.

The Kagoshima Aquarium used to raise sunfish in outdoor waterways, but released them into Kagoshima Bay on the 20th of last month to prevent the sunfish from becoming weak due to high water temperatures.

At that time, I installed a small camera and a device to measure the water depth on the sunfish together with the research team of Nagasaki University.

These are automatically removed and were collected in Kagoshima Bay on the 25th of last month.

Of these, the camera showed a sunfish eating a moon jellyfish.

The sunfish predation scene is rare.

Also, most of the footage seems to have been taken deep in the ocean, where the light does not reach, which may be related to the nature of the sunfish, which prefers cold water.

Akihiko Yoshida, chief of the Kagoshima Aquarium, said, "I would like to analyze what kind of place the sunfish are swimming and use it for breeding and exhibition in the aquarium."
