Jordanian groom fined $25,000 for stabbing "honour of the bride"

A Jordanian court ruled to oblige a groom to pay an amount of 18,000 dinars to his bride (more than 25 thousand US dollars), including fees and expenses, and an amount of (800) dinars as attorney fees in favor of the plaintiff, and interest at a rate of (9%) annually from the date of the claim until full payment.

The court’s ruling came, according to the Jordanian newspaper, “Al-Ghad”, after it was established that “the defendant was a husband to the plaintiff under a legal contract, and on the night of the wedding, the defendant came out of the bedroom that was gathering him with the plaintiff and brought his father and mother and challenged her honor and defamed her by saying (You are virgin) and then called the plaintiff’s father and mother and told them that their daughter was not a virgin.”

Which prompted the plaintiff’s family and the defendant to take her to the forensic doctor, where it was found that the plaintiff’s allegations were incorrect, and that the plaintiff’s hymen was intact and she obtained a medical report proving that.”
