A bill to expand the scope of postal voting to secure election voting opportunities for patients with the new coronavirus who are being treated at home will be deliberated by a special committee of the House of Representatives on the 7th next week.

As the number of infected people who are restricted from going out due to the spread of the new coronavirus infection is increasing, the Liberal Democratic Party, the Komeito Party and the Nippon Ishin no Kai are limiting postal voting to people with disabilities. On the 3rd, we submitted a bill to the House of Representatives to extend the scope to patients undergoing medical treatment at home or at hotels, and those who have returned from overseas and are waiting at facilities.

Regarding the handling of the bill, the Liberal Democratic Party proposed to refer it to a special committee at the board of directors of the House of Representatives Steering Committee on the 4th, while the Constitutional Democratic Party promulgated the enforcement date of the law. We did not respond to the fact that it was five days after the event, saying that the period for informing the local government was insufficient.

For this reason, a vote was taken by the House Steering Committee held in the afternoon, and the majority of the Liberal Democratic Party, the Komeito Party, the Nippon Ishin no Kai, and the Democratic Party for the People decided to refer the bill to the special committee.

After that, a board meeting of the special committee was held, and the ruling and opposition parties agreed to hold a committee meeting on the 7th next week to explain the purpose of the bill and ask questions.
