The number of hospitalized Covid-19 patients continued to decline slowly on Saturday, with fewer than 17,000 people hospitalized, including 3,028 in critical care.

71 deaths from the coronavirus have been recorded in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of deaths to 109,387 since the start of the pandemic.

Contaminations are also continuing to decline. 

The number of Covid-19 patients hospitalized continued to decline slowly on Saturday, with less than 17,000 people hospitalized, including 3,028 in critical care, according to data from Public Health France.

Currently 16,847 patients with the coronavirus are received in French hospitals (against 17,272 on Friday), including 334 in the last 24 hours (539 the day before).

A week ago, 19,765 Covid patients were hospitalized.

500 fewer critical care patients than a week ago

Critical care services, where the most seriously ill Covid-19 patients are treated and which include resuscitation beds, recorded 3,028 patients (3,104 the day before), about 500 less than a week ago.

These services admitted 93 new Covid patients (155 the previous day).

In 24 hours, the disease took 71 patients in hospital, bringing the total number of deaths to 109,387 since the start of the pandemic.

Contamination also continues to decline, with 10,675 positive cases identified in 24 hours (11,268 Friday) for a positivity rate (number of positive people compared to the total number of people tested) of 3.3% over the last seven days.

As for vaccination, which will be generalized to the entire major population from Monday, 25,315,595 people have received at least one injection (i.e. 37.8% of the total population and 48.2% of the major population), and 10,742,886 people received two injections (16% of the total population and 20.5% of the adult population), says the Ministry of Health.
