Through the voice of its Minister of Foreign Affairs, Germany admitted having committed genocide in Namibia during colonization.

From 1904 to 1908, 60,000 Herero and 10,000 Nama were exterminated.

Germany, which became aware of its responsibility for the first genocide of the twentieth century in 2004, decided to pay 1.1 billion euros in development aid.

Analysis by Delphine Froment, doctoral student in history, teacher at the University of Paris Nanterre, specialist in German colonization.
