China News Service, Guanghan, May 28 (Reporter Yue Yitong) "Forging gold into thin slices to decorate the surface of bronze ware or use it alone is a characteristic of Sanxingdui gold ware. This characteristic is found in the Zhengzhou city site, Zhengzhou, Henan. You can also see the gold artifacts unearthed at the Panlongcheng site in Wuhan, Hubei, and the Yinxu site in Anyang, Henan." Recently, Professor Chen Jianli, the secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Archaeology, Arts and Sciences of Peking University, said in Guanghan, Sichuan.

Chen Jiancheng stated that the use of the above-mentioned gold ware is actually one of the main features of the gold ware in the areas affected by the Shang dynasty and the Shang dynasty. Compared with the practice of using gold directly for human body decoration in the northern grasslands, there is A big difference.

On March 20 this year, after the archeological results of the six sacrificial pits newly discovered at Sanxingdui site were announced, the unearthed half of the golden mask once again made the world feel the dazzling brilliance of the Sanxingdui gold ware.

Square face, big hollow eyes, triangular nose bridge, wide ears... The golden mask is about 23 cm wide, 28 cm high, and weighs about 280 grams. It is expected that the complete total weight will exceed 500 grams, which is more than what has been unearthed in China. The heaviest gold ware in the Shang Dynasty-Sanxingdui Golden Rod (weight 463g) is even heavier.

"Basically, I haven't seen the use of gold into earrings, nose rings and other ornaments directly used on the human body. From the perspective of the way gold is used, Sanxingdui has not broken away from the Central Plains system." Chen Jianli told reporters that the gold currently unearthed in Sanxingdui Most of the vessels are thin, including the 143 cm long and 2.3 cm diameter Sanxingdui golden rod unearthed 35 years ago, which is also a golden skin wrapped on a wooden rod.

"Of course, we can also clearly see that the gold ware unearthed at Sanxingdui site is peculiar and vivid, which clearly reflects its unique aesthetic orientation."

It is understood that in the future, Peking University will also actively participate in the archaeological excavation and cultural relic protection of the Sanxingdui site.

In addition to his attention to goldware, Chen Jianli revealed that the ageing of the sacrificial pit of Sanxingdui is in close progress.

"Archaeological research must be based on accurate dating, and scientific conclusions must be drawn through scientific experiments." (End)
