The major chambers of commerce in Hong Kong expressed their welcome and expected Hong Kong to focus more on economic development and people's livelihood, and to accelerate its integration into the overall development of the country.
The Chinese General Chamber of Commerce of Hong Kong (CCC) believes that the passage of the bill by the Legislative Council is to fully implement the "patriots ruling Hong Kong", to ensure the stability and long-term development of "One Country, Two Systems", and to create a new situation for the promotion of Hong Kong's political development.
Yuan Wu, President of the General Assembly of the CPC Central Committee, believes that the new election system will expand the size of the Election Committee, increase the number of seats in the Legislative Council, and add new sub-sectors to the Election Committee to cover economic, social, and people’s livelihoods.
There is no shortage of business people in all new sectors. Hong Kong's business community must grasp the political space provided by the new system, actively speak out for the industry and participate in government decision-making, and cooperate with the SAR government to introduce more measures to facilitate business and promote economic development.
The Chinese Manufacturers' Association of Hong Kong (the Chinese Manufacturers' Association) supports this and pointed out that the newly revised method for the composition of the Election Committee and the Legislative Council will help rebuild a rational, orderly and diverse political ecology and lay a solid foundation for the long-term stability of Hong Kong.
The Chairman of the Manufacturers Association Shi Lide said that improving the electoral system is necessary for Hong Kong’s transition from chaos to governance and improving the efficiency of government governance. The Chinese Chamber of Commerce of Hong Kong Importers and Exporters stated that the SAR Legislative Council voted to pass the bill, which is an important step in Hong Kong’s full implementation of "patriots ruling Hong Kong".
