On the 26th, a hair crab fishing boat collided with a Russian-flagged carrier off the coast of Monbetsu City, Hokkaido, and overturned, killing three crew members. Considering that it may have sailed without noticing it, we will proceed with the investigation with a view to suspicion of accidental fatal injury in business and danger of accidental traffic in business.

On the 26th, the fishing boat "Hachikita Komaru" (9.7 tons) belonging to the Monbetsu Fisheries Cooperative, which was fishing for hair crabs in the Sea of Okhotsk off the coast of Monbetsu City, and the Nevelsk-registered carrier "AMUR" in Sakhalin, Russia, heading for Monbetsu Port (662 tons) collided, and three of the five crew members of the overturned "Eighth Kita Komaru" were killed and two were slightly injured.

The "Eighth Kitasaiwai Maru" was towed by patrol boats and transported to Monbetsu Port on the night of the 26th.

On the 27th, the Monbetsu Coast Guard will restore the hull from its capsized state and check the damage status.

In addition, according to the investigation by the Japan Coast Guard so far, the accident occurred shortly after the carrier changed its route to the port of Monbetsu due to the situation at that time, and at that time, the fishing boat that was stopped and operating was not noticed. It means that it may have been sailing.

In the future, the Japan Coast Guard will conduct interviews with the Russian captain of the carrier and the people involved in both ships, as well as analyze the navigation route, and investigate the suspicion of accidental fatal injury in business and the risk of accidental traffic in business. I'm going to proceed.
