Fujisawa City, Kanagawa Prefecture, where Enoshima is located, considered whether to open a beach this summer, and decided to open it after establishing its own rules to prevent infection.

Fujisawa City is visited by more than 1.5 million beachers every summer, but last year we forgot to open a beach to prevent infection with the new coronavirus.

On the 26th, a council made up of Fujisawa City and the beach association was held, and after establishing rules to prevent infection, it was decided to open three beaches in the city.

In addition to the rules based on the guidelines of Kanagawa Prefecture, such as calling on visitors to keep a distance between people once an hour, drinking on the beach is prohibited and loud conversations are suppressed. In addition, Fujisawa City will establish its own rules to limit the volume of audio equipment such as speakers used by visitors and beach houses.

Hiroyuki Morii, Chairman of the Enoshima Beach Cooperative, said, "When we open the beach for the first time in two years, we want to tighten ourselves and take all possible measures against infection."

Katase Higashihama Beach and Katase Nishihama / Kugenuma Beach in Fujisawa City will be held on July 3rd, and Tsujido Beach will be held on July 17th.

Kamakura City has not opened a beach as it did last year

On the other hand, Kamakura City, Kanagawa Prefecture, has decided not to open a beach following last year because of the risk of spreading the infection of the new coronavirus.

Kamakura City explains that when many swimmers visit, the risk of spreading the infection extends beyond the beach to the surrounding area, making it difficult to gain the understanding of the public.

The city will not open a beach, but lifeguards will monitor the beach in case of a water accident, and security guards will go out to the beach to encourage them not to drink or barbecue.

Mayor Takashi Matsuo of Kamakura City said, "We ask that you refrain from visiting the coast of Kamakura City from the perspective of preventing the spread of the new coronavirus infection."
