Nearly three days after the events, France Televisions published a press release on Tuesday condemning the assault suffered last Saturday evening by two of its journalists in Martinique.

The reporters of the Martinique la 1ère channel were taken to task during a commemoration of the abolition of slavery.

Two journalists from the local channel Martinique la 1ère, which belongs to France Télévisions, were assaulted on Saturday evening in the exercise of their function.

They were attacked during a commemoration of the abolition of slavery on the island and their working equipment was stolen.

The public group condemned the facts, three days later, in a statement made public Tuesday, and announced to file a complaint.

Martinique the 1st already last March

Journalists from Radio Caraibes International (RCI), also present to cover the demonstration, were also attacked.

Attacks condemned by the Martinican Press Club, which had already questioned the freedom of the press at the beginning of May, and by the prefect of the island.

This is not the first time that the Martinique la 1ère channel has been targeted.

Last March, demonstrators set one of his vehicles on fire.

And attacks on journalists seem to have increased in recent months.

Last February, a photojournalist from

L'Union

was attacked and seriously injured in Reims.
