The United Kingdom joins the list of countries whose travelers will have to observe a period of isolation on their arrival on French soil.
Government spokesman Gabriel Attal announced this “compulsory isolation” on Wednesday, without indicating the date of application of this measure which will be “specified in the coming hours”.
"Germany announced a few days ago additional measures (...) for people from the United Kingdom and France will take similar measures", underlined Gabriel Attal at the end of the Council of Ministers, in reference to the two weeks of incompressible quarantine imposed by Berlin since Sunday.
Already 16 countries in the list
Until then, 16 countries were subject to compulsory quarantine in France, including Brazil, India, Argentina and Turkey.
For these territories, the police can unexpectedly check the presence of travelers at their place of quarantine and impose a fine of 1,000 to 1,500 euros in the event of their absence.
Travelers must also present a negative PCR test of less than 36 hours (instead of 72 hours), or a negative PCR test of less than 72 hours accompanied by a negative antigen test of less than 24 hours.
