The next Willy Wonka will be Timothée Chalamet.

The Hollywood Golden Boy was chosen by Warner Bros.

to play the character created by Roald Dahl in a new film based on

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

.

The film, entitled

Wonka

, will tell the young years of the chocolate maker, long before he created his famous factory.

According to Deadline, it will be a musical, which will therefore mark the first opportunity for Timothée Chalamet to show his talents as a singer and dancer.

While competing with Tom Holland, Timothée Chalamet has always been the studio's favorite to take over the role of the cult character, already played by Gene Wilder, then by Johnny Depp.

In the top

Wonka

will be directed by Paul King, who recently

shone

with

Paddington

and

Paddington 2

, two very successful adaptations of another children's book.

This will therefore be the third film produced by Warner Bros.

based on

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

, Roald Dahl's masterpiece released in 1964.

After a big year, where he plays in the

Dune

of Denis Villeneuve (whose release is scheduled for October 1 and will be in parallel to the cinema and on HBO Max), as well as roles in the highly anticipated

The French Dispatch

 by Wes Anderson and

Don't Look Up

by Adam McKay, opposite Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence, Timothée Chalamet continues his momentum and establishes himself as a leading actor.

He will also be

starring

in

Bones & All

, the next film by Luca Guadagnino, with whom he filmed

Call Me By Your Name.
