As the number of children and students attending special schools increases, the shortage of classrooms becomes an issue, and the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology has set the "establishment standards" that determine the area of school buildings necessary for improving the educational environment as special schools for the first time. Also decided to formulate and published the draft.

According to the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, the number of children and students enrolled in special schools for children with disabilities continues to increase because they are more likely to receive education that leads to independence, and as of May 1, last year, it has been 10 years ago. There are 144,823 people attending, which is about 23,000.

With the shortage of classrooms, some schools divide one classroom into two or divert the library to give lessons, so the National Council of Experts called for an improvement in the educational environment.

For this reason, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology has decided for the first time to set "establishment standards" that indicate the minimum necessary standards for elementary and junior high schools, and has put together a draft.

In the draft, the number of students in one class is 6 or less for elementary and junior high schools, 8 or less for high schools, etc., but the area of the school building that should be secured according to the classification of disabilities and the number of enrolled students is concrete. In addition to being shown, the necessary equipment such as a library is included.

The installation standards themselves will be enforced from April next year, and the area and equipment will be enforced from April next year.

The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology will publish this proposal on its website from the 26th, solicit opinions for a month, and then promulgate it.
