It was found that the quality control of more than 30 medicines manufactured by a pharmaceutical company in Tokushima City was improperly handled, and the company started voluntary collection of some medicines, and Tokushima Prefecture is located in Tokushima City. We carry out on-site inspections at three manufacturing plants.

According to the prefecture, it was Choseido Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., which is headquartered in Tokushima City, that had inappropriate quality control of pharmaceutical products.

This company did not re-inspect products that were out of specification, such as the "stability monitoring inspection" that checks the aging deterioration of the shipped medicines, which did not produce the original effect, and shipped the products without voluntary recall. I didn't tell you earlier.

Such improper handling covers 31 items such as stomach medicines and antibiotics, and some of them are generic drugs that are being popularized by the country.

The company has begun voluntarily recalling eight of these items, which have been sold by themselves and have not expired.

In addition, 16 items are contract manufactured by pharmaceutical companies in Tokyo, Osaka, Toyama, and Saitama prefectures, and the distribution destination is unknown.

Tokushima Prefecture will conduct on-site inspections at three factories in Tokushima City to check all items for quality control problems.

Hideaki Harada, president of Choseido Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., held an online press conference and said, "We deeply apologize for the inconvenience caused and the serious damage to the trust of the drug."

According to the company, the drug in question may take longer to dissolve the ingredients, but so far no information on health hazards has been received.

Choseido Pharmaceutical has set up a special investigation committee consisting of outside lawyers and experts, and will announce the circumstances and causes as soon as they are investigated.
