Under the slogan "The Future Starts Now", the Abu Dhabi Festival announced the launch of the second edition of the International Oud Forum, which includes seven episodes in a television structure, broadcast through the digital platforms of the Abu Dhabi Festival, with the participation of 27 oud artists from 14 countries to perform many Pieces composed and varied specially for the Oud.
The International Oud Forum, which brings together a distinguished elite of Arab oud players, extends over the period from May 25 to June 15, providing special insights from academics with experience in the field of music and arts, the history and development of the oud instrument, and how the instrument is integrated into the digital industry. And the music scene today, in addition to rich reports on six distinguished oud makers from different parts of the Arab world, with visits to their workshops, to reveal to us the secrets of their industry.
Hoda Ibrahim Al-Khamis, founder and artistic director of the Abu Dhabi Festival for Culture and Arts, founder and artistic director of the Abu Dhabi Festival, said: “The organization of the International Oud Forum is a translation of the vision of the Abu Dhabi Group for Culture and Arts to raise cultural awareness and societal taste, build bridges of communication with others, and support artistic mobility and the Arab and international musical heritage. Abu Dhabi Festival 2021 will continue for a whole year, combining traditional and virtual shows based on the latest digital technologies, as well as a unique set of performances and exhibitions, with the participation of 500 artists from more than 50 countries, as well as 16 international shows for the first time.
