The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry said at a meeting of experts on the 25th that electricity supply and demand will be the most severe in the last few years in many areas such as the Tokyo metropolitan area and the Kansai area, and that households and businesses will use electricity efficiently. Discuss measures such as calling.

The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry expects that the supply and demand of electricity will become severe in many areas such as the Tokyo metropolitan area and the Kansai area this summer due to the decrease in supply capacity due to the suspension or abolition of aging thermal power plants.

Specifically, assuming a heat wave of once every 10 years, the "reserve rate", which indicates the surplus power supply capacity, is 3.7% in areas other than Hokkaido and Okinawa in July, and 7 areas in Honshu and Shikoku in August. It is said that it will drop to 3.8%.

This is the toughest level in the last few years, barely exceeding the minimum reserve of 3% required for stable supply.

For this reason, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry will discuss measures to secure a stable supply of electricity at a council of experts who will open on the 25th.

In this, although we do not go into the request for power saving, we call on households to use electricity efficiently, such as refraining from using lighting and electrical equipment within the range that does not interfere with daily life.

We would like to discuss countermeasures and make every effort to ensure a stable supply, such as requesting companies to respond to efforts to curb electricity usage during times of high demand.
