China News Service, Kunming, May 25 (Han Shuainan) The Public Security Bureau of Dali City, Yunnan Province issued a notice on the 25th that the bureau investigated and dealt with an earthquake-related rumor on the 24th.

In response to this situation, earthquake experts stated that the current entire earthquake sequence is attenuated normally, with no obvious abnormal changes, and appealed to the public to never spread and listen to rumors related to earthquake prediction.

The report stated that on the 24th, the Dali City Public Security Bureau discovered during its work that a netizen posted false information in a WeChat group that "there is a strong earthquake at 2-5 pm today, please pay attention to the shock".

The information was immediately forwarded and spread, causing panic among citizens in some areas of the city.

After investigation and verification, the netizen was Zhao Moumou (female, 36 years old) from Dali City.

At present, the relevant investigation and processing work is in progress.

In response to the online rumor that a major earthquake will occur in Dali Xiaguan on the afternoon of May 24, Qian Xiaodong, a senior engineer of the Yunnan Seismological Bureau, and Li Tao, a senior engineer of the Dali Prefecture Seismological Bureau, said that since the Yangbi 6.4 earthquake occurred, the seismic department has been paying close attention. The changes in seismic observation data show that the entire seismic sequence attenuation is normal and there is no obvious abnormal change.

The two experts said that the occurrence of a strong earthquake is followed by a series of felt earthquakes, which is a normal phenomenon and there is no need to panic.

The magnitude of this earthquake was large and the energy released was also large; in addition, the rich low-frequency components of this earthquake are one of the reasons for the wide range of this earthquake.

With the current technological level of earthquake prediction, it is difficult to accurately predict the temporal and spatial intensity of earthquakes.

The two experts reminded the general public that only the government has the right to issue earthquake forecasts, and no other department, unit or individual has the right to issue earthquake forecasts. Please do not listen to rumors.
