Openly intervene in Hong Kong affairs!

U.S. lawmakers advocate for "refugee asylum" for Hong Kong people, Hong Kong media: expose U.S. conspiracy

[Global Times Special Correspondent Yang Weimin in Hong Kong] The US Congress is considering a number of drafts against China.

Hong Kong’s Oriental Daily reported on the 23rd that senators from both parties have proposed amendments to the so-called "Strategic Competition Act", requesting the addition of provisions to "provide refugees to Hong Kong people who have been suppressed."

According to the Oriental Daily News, the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the U.S. Senate and Republican Menendez took the lead in introducing amendments to the “Strategic Competition Act” currently under consideration by the whole house. People provide refugee protection".

Menendez claimed that the United States cannot ignore the necessity of its "moral" obligations to the people of Hong Kong. It must make its policies value-based and make it clear that "the United States is committed to providing asylum for Hong Kong democracy and human rights activists, journalists and other Hong Kong citizens. They are becoming targets of attacks because of unnecessarily incited and undermined accusations of national security."

This is undoubtedly an excuse for the United States to interfere in China's internal affairs.

The so-called "Strategic Competition Act" was passed by the Foreign Affairs Committee of the US Senate on April 21. The purpose is to "ensure that the United States can compete against China in all aspects in the future."

The bill is more than 280 pages long and involves economic and trade, military, Internet, and Taiwan, Hong Kong and Xinjiang issues. It requires the Biden administration to adopt a policy of comprehensive strategic competition with China, including an annual allocation of 15 million US dollars during the 2022-2027 fiscal year. Assist American companies to withdraw from the Chinese market, diversify the supply chain, and is expected to allocate 75 million US dollars to promote infrastructure in the Indo-Pacific region.

The bill also proposes to allocate 10 million U.S. dollars in fiscal year 2022 to "provide the U.S. State Department to promote democracy in Hong Kong and expand sanctions in Xinjiang." Need to restore diplomatic relations with Taiwan.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin criticized the relevant bill for seriously distorting facts and reversing black and white, and blatantly advocating that the United States is launching a comprehensive strategic competition with China and grossly interfering in China's internal affairs. He replied, “The relevant bill uses China as its adversary throughout the bill. Is the purpose of the United States’ development to defeat China in competition?” The Sing Tao Daily published an editorial saying that although the United States had funded the Hong Kong opposition in the past , But there are still some scruples to cover up, and the "Strategic Competition Act" will no longer cover up, openly appropriating the State Department to intervene in Hong Kong affairs and support the activities of "anti-China" forces. Although the National Security Law has stabilized a bit after the implementation of the National Security Law, national security is still under threat." At the same time, the "one China, one Taiwan" initiative in the international arena undoubtedly wants to catalyze Taiwan's ambitions towards "independence." The article said that the bill exposed the United States' attempts to create domestic and foreign troubles against China. China must be more vigilant. Hong Kong also has the responsibility to guard against chaos, work hard to maintain national security, and maintain stability in the turbulent international situation.
