The health authorities in Germany reported 2,682 new corona infections to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) within one day.

This is evident from the numbers from Monday morning, which reflect the status of the RKI dashboard at 5:13 a.m.

For comparison: a week ago the value was 5412 infections.

On Sundays and public holidays, the number of cases reported by the RKI is usually lower, among other things because fewer tests are then carried out.

According to the information, 43 new deaths were recorded across Germany within 24 hours.

A week ago there were 64 dead.

Incidence in all federal states below 100

The RKI stated the seven-day incidence on Monday morning as 62.5 nationwide (previous day: 64.5; previous week: 83.1).

The incidence was below 50 in five federal states: Schleswig-Holstein (30), Hamburg (35), Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania (40), Lower Saxony (45), Brandenburg (47).

Not a single federal state has an incidence of more than 100. The highest value was registered in Thuringia (97).

The RKI has counted a total of 3,651,640 detected infections with Sars-CoV-2 since the beginning of the pandemic.

The actual total number is likely to be significantly higher, however, since many infections are not recognized.

The RKI stated the number of people recovered at around 3,408,800.

The number of people who died with or with the involvement of a proven infection with Sars-CoV-2 is now given as 87,423.

According to the RKI situation report on Sunday evening, the nationwide seven-day R-value was 0.87 (previous day also: 0.87). This means that 100 infected people infect a further 87 people. The R-value represents the infection process 8 to 16 days ago. If it is below 1 for a long time, the infection process subsides; if it is consistently higher, the number of cases increases.
