  The 2021 (fourth) Yellow River Stone Forest Mountain Marathon 100-kilometer Cross-Country Race was held on the 22nd in Jingtai County, Baiyin City, Gansu Province. Nearly 10,000 people participated in the race and healthy running, of which 172 participants participated in the 100-kilometer cross-country race.

  At an official press conference held in Baiyin City, Gansu Province on the 23rd, the mayor of Baiyin City Zhang Xuchen informed that the race was underway until noon, and the 100-kilometer cross-country high-altitude stage was between 20 kilometers and 31 kilometers. There was sudden hail and freezing rain, accompanied by strong winds, and the temperature dropped sharply.

  At 12:17 noon, a participant posted a help video in the event work group. The event organizing committee responded immediately and arranged for 20 rescuers to set off immediately to rescue the participants to the difficult mountain cross-country track. 18 participants were rescued successively.

  At about 2 pm, after rescuers arrived at the uphill point of the high-difficult mountain cross-country track, they found rain, squalls and heavy winds mixed with hail, freezing rain, mudslides, and the difficulty of rescue was increased.

  According to the headquarters, this was a public safety incident that occurred due to a sudden change in weather in a local area.

An incident investigation team has been established in Gansu Province to conduct an in-depth investigation of the cause of the incident. The governor Ren Zhenhe rushed to the scene of the incident that night to hold an on-site dispatch meeting.
