The Yellow River Stone Forest Mountain Marathon 100-kilometer cross-country race encountered extreme weather. As of 3 o'clock on the 23rd, 16 people had been found dead, and 5 people were missing in rescue.

  According to the headquarters, around 1 o'clock noon that day, the high-altitude stage of the 100-kilometer cross-country race was between 20 kilometers and 31 kilometers. Affected by sudden extreme weather, severe weather such as hail, freezing rain, and strong wind occurred locally, and the temperature dropped sharply. The personnel experienced physical discomfort, loss of temperature, etc., and some participants lost contact, and the competition was stopped.

The local area immediately organized multiple forces to search and rescue the missing personnel.

  After receiving the local report, the Gansu Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial Government convened a special meeting as soon as possible, immediately activated the emergency response plan, established a lost connection rescue headquarters, and organized more than 700 rescue forces to join the search and rescue operations.

Due to the complex terrain and topography in the stage, the night temperature dropped again, making search and rescue difficult.

As of 3 o'clock on the 23rd, 151 participants have been confirmed to be safe, of which 5 were treated with minor injuries in the hospital in stable condition.

16 participants had lost their vital signs when they were found, and another 5 were still in further search and rescue.

  According to reports, the event was sponsored by the Baiyin Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government and undertaken by Jingtai County. The specific event operation was handled by Gansu Shengjing Sports and Culture Development Co., Ltd. A total of 172 people participated in the 100-kilometer cross-country race.
