Recently, a policeman from the Forest Police Detachment of the Public Security Bureau of Xishuangbanna Prefecture, Yunnan Province released a national level-two protected wild animal collared owl picked up by citizens to nature.

On May 15th, a citizen of Menglun found an owl on the side of the road on the way to the judicial office. Fearing that the owl would be run over by a passing vehicle, he got off the car and picked it up and took it back to the judicial office.

As the Menglun Judicial Office did not have the conditions for breeding and rescue, the owl was sent to the Menglun Brigade of the Forest Police Division of the Xishuangbanna Prefecture Public Security Bureau.

After inspection and comparison and telephone consultation with experts, it was determined that this owl was named the Collared Owl, and it was a national second-level key protected animal.

Subsequently, the police and auxiliary police personnel on duty were arranged to take care of them, and they were carefully fed. After several days of feeding and observation, it was confirmed that the various functional indicators were normal, and they were released to nature.
