One must have been fascinated at some point by someone's voice, but can we believe our ears?

What can voice really reveal about our personality?

An international research team led by the University of Göttingen has finally shown that voice reveals some of our personality traits. The researchers discovered that a low-pitched voice was associated with more dominant and open people. The results are correct for both women and men. The results were published by the magazine "Research in Personality", and reported by the "Science Daily" website, which deals with scientific news. However, the relationship between tone of voice and other personality traits, such as harmony or neuroticism (tendency towards negative emotions), conscientiousness or openness appears less, and it is possible that the tone of voice does not express these traits. The researchers found that there was no difference between men and women in this regard. “People's voices can make an immediate and big impression on us ... even if we hear someone’s voice without any visual clues, as happens over the phone, for example, we know immediately if we are,” explains Julia Stern, of the Biological Personality Psychology Group at the University of Göttingen. We are talking to a man, woman, child, or an elderly person. We can know if this voice is interested, friendly, sad, tense, or if it is an attractive voice.
