The Intermediate People’s Court of Changsha City, Hunan Province issued a public sentence on the criminal and incidental civil lawsuit of the defendant Xianghui’s intentional homicide. The plaintiff in the lawsuit suffered an economic loss of 38781.5 yuan.

  The court found that the defendant Xiang Hui, in order to achieve the purpose of winning the case, repeatedly asked the victim Zhou Chunmei (a judge of the Hunan Higher People’s Court, and Xiang Hui’s fellow township and alumni) to greet the judge handling the case, but they were rejected and resented. Revenge.

On January 4, 2021, in order to get close to Zhou Chunmei and wait for an opportunity to retaliate, Xiang Hui applied for the job as a cleaner in Zhou Chunmei's residential area.

At around 7 am on January 12, Xiang Hui found Zhou Chunmei entering the garage from the elevator of the residential complex, and immediately threw her to the ground. He stabbed Zhou Chunmei several times on the head and neck with the single-edged knife he carried with him. The right jugular vein ruptured and he lost blood on the spot.

  The court found that the defendant Xiang Hui illegally deprived others of their lives and caused death on the spot, and his actions constituted the crime of intentional homicide.

The facts of the case are clear, the evidence is indeed sufficient, and the charges charged by the public prosecutor are convicted.

Xiang Hui's motives for committing the crime were despicable, the methods were particularly cruel, the social impact was bad, and the consequences were extremely serious, and should be severely punished in accordance with the law.

The economic losses caused by his criminal actions to the plaintiff in the attached civil lawsuit shall be compensated in accordance with the law.
