Emirates Literature launches a new session of the "Let's change the story" course

The Emirates Literature Foundation, the organizing committee of the Emirates Airline Festival of Literature, launched yesterday the session "Social Stereotypes ... How the Digital World Changes Our Reality", which was organized within the 2021 session, as part of its digital content series.

The session includes Egyptian writer and novelist Walaa Kamal, and social media star Max of Arabia, as the speakers in the session explore the multiple aspects of social media, assessing its role in breaking stereotypes, promoting a more positive perception of the real world, and helping us come up with the best ways to face risks. To which we may be exposed on the Internet, and how to better manage these networks.

Dreams of Blocky, director of the Emirates Airline Festival of Literature, said: “The events of the past year pushed us towards the virtual world, to preserve our human communication, in light of the conditions of separation and quarantine, and social networking sites have become an integral part of our daily life.”

She added, “With this excessive use, there must be some kind of awareness about the different aspects of these means, to know the best ways to use them in our interest, and this is one of the topics that the festival was interested in shedding light on through the sessions, hoping that this would be a point. It is noteworthy that the Emirates Airline Festival of Literature in its 13th session witnessed the participation of a group of writers, creators and celebrities, including Malala Yousafzai, Amin Maalouf, Elif Shafak, Yaman Sisay, Hoda Hamad and Abdulaziz Baraka Sakin, from January 29 to February 13.

Many of the sessions were inspired by the theme of the 2021 festival, "Let's change the story", which expresses the spirit of the current period.

The festival presented a family fun program, rich and fun discussions, inspiring ideas, interactive performances focusing on books, art, science and contemporary affairs, and cinematic shows and gastronomy.
