Zhang Zhonghua, a "Gannan old watch" who has been a migrant worker for more than 20 years, chose to return to Yudu, Ganzhou City, Jiangxi Province. Jiangxi is the cradle of the Chinese revolution. The People's Army was born here, and the Republic came from here. The people of Jiangxi affectionately call their fellow villagers the "old watch".
Zhang Zhonghua's hometown, Yudu County, is located in the eastern part of Ganzhou City, the "South Gate" of Jiangxi Province, and is known as "the three provinces of Fujian, Guangdong, and Hunan communicate with each other."

In October 1934, 86,000 Central Red Army crossed the Duhe River at eight main ferry crossings in Duxian successively, and began the world-famous 25,000-mile Long March.

In the past, the old district with "poor foundation and late start" in people's eyes is attracting "old watchmen" to return to their hometowns to do business, and attracting a large number of talents to start their businesses on the "New Long March Road".
"When I was young, I wanted to go out to earn more money. I always felt that there were more opportunities in the cities along the coast." Zhang Zhonghua said frankly that he went out to work to find more development opportunities.
But now he found that his hometown is a fertile soil for his career.
After more than 20 years of migrant work, Zhang Zhonghua returned to his hometown to catch up with the "selenium-enriched vegetable industry" in Zishan Town, Yudu County, and contracted 20 acres of selenium-enriched vegetable greenhouses with an annual income of more than 100,000 yuan (RMB, the same below). From a "wage earner" to a small boss at the door.
"I don’t have to worry about selling the fruits I grow in the greenhouse. During the peak tourist season, tourists can pick up strawberries in a greenhouse within a week." Zhang Zhonghua, who initially didn’t understand planting techniques at all, quickly got it under the government’s technical training. Adapted to his new role, he is also very optimistic about the future of the selenium-rich vegetable industry.

The soil in Zishan Town of Yudu County is rich in trace element selenium. During the revolution in the Soviet area, Zishan was one of the most active places for early revolutionary activities in Yudu County.
In recent years, Yudu has made good use of selenium-rich natural resources, introduced leading agricultural enterprises, and vigorously developed the selenium-rich agricultural industry.
As of the end of 2020, Yudu County has 109 vegetable bases with a scale of more than 50 mu, with a total area of 45,000 mu, a vegetable planting area of 220,000 mu, an annual output of 450,000 tons of vegetables, and a comprehensive output value of 3 billion yuan.
Helped more than 20,000 households increase their income through labor employment, land transfer, and contracted greenhouses. Through the development of the vegetable industry, more than 8,000 poor people were driven to achieve a per capita income increase of about 17,200 yuan.
Li Wen is also a native-born "post-90s" veteran in southern Jiangxi. He studied agriculture at the university and used to start his own business in Yichun, Jiangxi.
After learning that his hometown of Ganzhou was vigorously developing the selenium-rich vegetable industry, Li Wen immediately went home to develop his expertise.
"The policies here are very good, and the equipment is very advanced. Each greenhouse has technicians to guide, and the conditions are very mature." Today, Li Wen's annual net income of vegetable greenhouses alone can reach more than 200,000 yuan.
In the next step, he is planning to take advantage of Ganzhou's location adjacent to Guangdong and follow the policy to connect his vegetables to the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
