China News Service, Beijing, May 18 (Guo Chaokai) The beverage bottles that can be seen everywhere in life, after being filled with water and air, can actually be launched like a carrier rocket... Recently, a teacher in Anji, Zhejiang led students to use beverage bottles. The video of making "Water Rocket" became popular on the Internet, making netizens envy and calling "the teacher of other people's home."

Why can the "Water Rocket" be launched into space?

This teacher named Wang Yin is a science teacher from Grade 1 to Grade 4 of Zhejiang Lanrun Angel Foreign Language Experimental School.

In an interview with the media, Wang Yin introduced that the theme of this year's school is "Space Exploration and Human Civilization." May 15 coincided with the successful landing of Tianwen 1 on Mars, and all disciplines of the school carried out corresponding activities.

He made a "water rocket" to let children experience the launching process.

The reporter noticed that this type of "water rocket" is a type I and II rocket, and the power cabin, arrow body, arrow, and tail are quite similar to the real launch vehicle.

Wang Yin said that the production and launch of the "water rocket" were not all smooth sailing.

Before the successful launch, the students had failed many times due to premature parachuting and incorrect direction, but they were not discouraged. They continued to improve the parachute and adjust the parameters, and finally achieved success.

Although it was not tested with professional equipment, Wang Yin led the students' self-made "water rockets" to rise to a height of tens of meters or more.

What materials are used to make the "Water Rocket"?

What is the principle of its launch?

Wang Yin explained that the principle of water rockets is the same as that of real rockets.

The cabin body is mainly connected by beverage bottles. Water is injected into the "power cabin" and high pressure is added. Under the action of recoil force, the "water rocket" can quickly lift off.

In this regard, Qian Hang, a rocket designer of the General Design Department of the First Academy of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation, told a reporter from Chinanews.com that "water rockets" are also known as pneumatic water jet rockets and water propelled rockets.

This kind of "water rocket" is more convenient to make, and the rocket's power cabin, arrow body, arrow and tail can be made by using the discarded beverage bottles in daily life.

After the rocket model is made, it is filled with a certain volume of water, and the air pump is filled with air to reach a certain pressure under safe operation, and the rocket can be launched.

"The reason why it can be launched into the air is that the'water rocket' uses pressurized air to spray water down from the nozzle at the tail of the'rocket' at high speed. Under the reaction, the'water rocket' rises rapidly with a certain acceleration. Flying in the air, it has a flight trajectory like a rocket. After the water spray is finished, the acceleration ends, and finally reaches a certain height, and the parachute is opened in the air to slowly land. In short, its principle is the momentum conservation and impulse theorem in the middle school physics class." Qian Hang Say.

Although the simulation is launching a launch vehicle, the propellant used by the "water rocket" is not real rocket fuel, but ordinary water.

Qian Hang said that the propellants of real launch vehicles include pyrazinone tetroxide, liquid oxygen methane, liquid oxygen kerosene, liquid oxygen and liquid hydrogen.

What they have in common is that the combustion of the propellant produces high energy and high heat, and then through the conversion and conservation of energy, the internal energy is converted into mechanical energy of the arrow body.

This can make the rocket ascend at a high speed, and complete the separation of rocket stages, separation of stars and arrows and other related actions.

"Aerospace Dream" is being planted in children's hearts

After the successful launch, Wang Yin released a video of the launch of the "Water Rocket" on his personal video number "Lord King". In just half a day, the volume exceeded 13 million and his strength was out of the circle.

"After half a day of release, the number of video views exceeded 13 million. In fact, all experiences will be more or less imprinted in life! All efforts will not be wasted! Come on, boy! The future of your world is absolutely beyond imagination Rich and colorful!" Wang Yin wrote such a paragraph in WeChat Moments.

As a science teacher, Wang Yin leads the students to explore, try, make and test by themselves.

He plans to let every child in the school learn to make "water rockets" by the end of this semester.

Wang Yin pointed out that dexterity can only help the mind. He hopes that through such courses, children will be awakened to their interest in science and then promote their physical and mental and brain development, rather than simply imparting knowledge.

In recent years, China’s aerospace has made great progress. Beidou "guides the way", Chang'e "flying to the moon", Tianwen "fire detection", Tiangong "Range Rover"... the success of many major aerospace projects has buried "aerospace" in the hearts of children. The seeds of "dream" also gave them a keen interest in spaceflight.

Recently, aerospace science popularization experiments and activities across the country are in full swing.

Qian Hang also expressed his high recognition for this kind of aerospace science popularization activities.

He pointed out that it is of great significance to conduct aerospace science experiments frequently.

It can cultivate students' interest in exploring science, improve students' scientific literacy, and help students learn to think about problems in multiple disciplines.

“For the parents of primary and middle school students, it is necessary to actively support their children to participate in space experience activities, and pay attention to stimulating children’s curiosity. For example, when children participate in space science activities, guide them to observe wonderful aerospace science experiments and rise from visual impact. Shock the soul, transition from cognition of appearance to process exploration, from occasional interest to condensed into ambition, let curiosity help children continue to grow on the road of scientific experience." Qian Hang said. (Finish)
