【Rural Revitalization】Museum settlements rise, rural revitalization plays a cultural "characteristic card"

[Explanation] On May 18, on the International Museum Day, the Banshan Museum settlement in Shuangliu Village, Fudi Town, Shifang City, Deyang City, Sichuan welcomed tourists from all over the world.

Seeing this beautiful scenery, it is hard to imagine that this was once an abandoned village.

Shuangliu Village was severely damaged in the "5·12" Wenchuan Earthquake. After the villagers relocated, only a piece of rubble remained.

Now, the Banshan Museum settlement with a total investment of more than 700 million yuan has landed here, and the abandoned village has been reborn.

Zeng Li, head of the Mid-Levels Museum settlement project, said that the museum settlement plans to build 24 themed museums such as movie machines and typewriters. Since its partial opening in 2015, it has received more than 500,000 tourists. It is planned to be fully open to the public in 2026.

(Currently) there are more than 900 old movie machines, and it started from the origin of movie machines, from about 1890 to 2004, the world’s famous brands, and the classic models of each generation. There are collections, and after we took these old movie cameras from these collections back, we also carried out professional repairs to make them all work.

[Explanation] The changes brought by the Mid-Levels Museum settlement to Shuangliu Village are just a microcosm of the “spring breeze” of cultural museums that helped the museum settlements blow into Chinese towns and villages.

In recent years, as the "cultural and expo tour" has continued to gain popularity in China, various museums have "emerged with a hundred flowers", and museum settlements have gradually emerged in many places.

Take the outstanding Chinese museum settlement-Sichuan Jianchuan Museum Settlement as an example. Since 2003, "Daguan Slave" Fan Jianchuan has "dissipated his wealth" and built the largest private museum in China-Jianchuan Museum in Anren Township in 2003. , This little-known ancient town in Dayi, Sichuan has grown into a small museum town in China and a popular place to check in for cultural and cultural tours in China.

It is understood that in 2019 alone, more than 2 million tourists visited Anren Town to visit the Jianchuan Museum settlement. In the first four months of 2021, the number of visitors to the Jianchuan Museum increased by 15% compared with the same period in 2019.

In terms of the huge tourist base, restaurants, accommodations, specialty products and other businesses in Anren Town can also share "dividends."

Zhong Liting, director of Shifang Culture, Sports and Tourism Industry Development Service Center, told reporters that in addition to digging out rural background cultural resources, the agglomeration and utilization of external resources is also of great significance to rural revitalization.

Including what we are talking about now, whether we are native or foreign builders, we say that after our city has developed to a certain level, some of their insights, some of their ideas, and some of their things will feed back to the countryside through the city. To achieve a revitalization of the village.

[Explanation] Wu Junqian, an associate researcher at the Western China Economic Research Center of Southwestern University of Finance and Economics, said that behind the rise of museum settlements is the growing demand for spiritual and cultural food from the Chinese people. In the future, this museum form may continue to gain popularity.

He suggested that while accepting or building museum settlements, villages and towns should find their characteristic positioning and plan in advance for industrial linkage, so as to play the "characteristic card" of rural revitalization.
