It was "Kurt Cobain's only hair on the market," according to Iconic Auctions, the auction house that organized the sale.

Six hair of the singer of Nirvana have indeed been awarded, for the modest sum ... of 14,145 dollars, according to TMZ.

For the more picky, here is the price per piece of Kurt Cobain hair: 2,357 dollars and 50 cents!

The legendary artist's hair has been preserved since 1989, when a friend of the star's Tessa Osbourne cut his hair while touring Bleach, the band's debut album, in Birmingham, England. The six hairs remained in a plastic bag for years until the "hairdresser" gave them to Seattle artist Nicole DePolo after Kurt Cobain died in 1994.

This was not the end of the journey for this legendary hair, as it was then given to John Reznikoff, who holds the world record (approved by Guinness) for the largest collection of “historic” hair. His collection is apparently big enough that he allows himself to put some items up for sale, and he finally decided to part with that Kurt Cobain hair earlier this month. "This one-of-a-kind artefact is entirely new to the market, and it comes with an impeccable lineage of provenance including images of Kurt posing with the woman who cut his hair, scissors in hand, and a fantastic photo of the hair being cut! Iconic Auctions announced in its ad.

Among the other historical objects offered for sale by the auction house, collectors were able to afford a Marshall brand amplifier, used by the singer on stage, and sold for a little over 93,000 dollars.
