The Higher Organizing Committee of the Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition announced the launch of a new version of the Arabian Saluki Beauty Contest, which will be held during the activities of the next session, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Ruler's Representative in Al Dhafra Region and President of the Emirates Falconers Club, during the period from 27 September to October 3rd, at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center, organized by the Emirates Falconers Club.

The competition is one of the most popular events for Saluki and dogs in general in the region and the world. It is organized annually by the Arab Saluki Center, with the aim of providing an opportunity for Saluki owners to display the skills and characteristics of their dogs.

The past sessions of the exhibition witnessed a wide turnout and tangible interest in the competition, as the event attracted the interest of lovers and lovers of the Saluki from the Emirates and the Arab Gulf states, and contributed to strengthening efforts to preserve the heritage, and attracting tens of thousands of visitors of various nationalities.

The Arab Saluki Center explained that the competition includes four categories: the "male type of hoss" stage, the "male type of hoss" stage, the "female type of the hoss" race, and the "female type of hoss" race, and the winners in each of them have valuable prizes.

The competition is exclusively for the Arabian Saluki dog, provided that the owners of the Saluki are committed to ensuring that the participating dog is healthy, has a vaccination certificate, and has an electronic chip.

The criteria for evaluation and judging include the characteristics of the breed from which the participating dog descended, behavior such as walking and movement, general appearance such as head and structure, hunting skills and general impression.

The Arabian Saluki beauty competition differs from other dog shows in the world, which focus only on the external appearance of the dog, by testing the character of the hound and its skills in hunting and chasing, as well as its reactions and sensory response.

The “Saluki” is an important part of the Arab hunting heritage. The Arabs knew it since ancient times, and they raised and took care of it. Its lineage has been known for more than 7000 years. The Seleucid hounds are distinguished by intelligence, loyalty and exceptional endurance capabilities.

The "saluki" is classified into two main types: the fringe (fringe) with long hair, and the smooth (the hoss) with light hair.

The home of the purebred hunting dog is the Arabian Peninsula, Egypt, Iraq, Syria and Jordan.

It has many strains, the most important of which are in the region and in the Arab Saluki Center in Abu Dhabi (Chedid, Dhiban, Tarah, Sniper) from the Hoss category, and (Lahaq, Dabyan, Hook) from the Alish class.

The Arabian hound is used in the sport of hunting with the participation of falcons, and it is also used for surveillance and guarding, and it lives from 16 to 18 years.

The Saluki is loyal in his character, guarding his owner and protecting his home, and does not hunt except in his company.

Greyhounds can run at speeds of up to 75 kilometers per hour.

The "saluki" played an important role during hunting trips, due to its ability to find prey that was struck by the falcon hiding in shrubs or tall grass or in other hideouts.

Thus both falcons and greyhounds cooperate to catch hidden prey.
