(Fighting New Coronary Pneumonia) A 4-year-old boy in Hong Kong diagnosed with unknown source, about 20 kindergarten teachers and students must be quarantined

China News Service, Hong Kong, May 15 (Reporter Han Xingtong) Hong Kong announced on the 15th that there were 3 new confirmed cases, and a few days later, there were more cases of unknown local origin, involving a 4-year-old boy and about 20 teachers and students in kindergartens. Must be sent to the hotel for quarantine.

The 3 newly confirmed cases involved 1 male and 2 females, aged between 4 and 35 years old. 2 of them were imported cases. The confirmed cases were foreign domestic workers who came to Hong Kong from Indonesia, and 1 was a local case with unknown source.

The local case of unknown origin involves a 4-year-old boy. He has two locations in Shek Kip Mei and Ho Man Tin. He is studying in K1B class of Ho Man Tin Hanshi Kindergarten. There are 17 students in the class. The date of the confirmed boy’s last school day It was May 12th. Fever and sore throat started on the evening of the same day. After that, he went to a private doctor and was diagnosed.

Zhang Zhujun, director of the Infectious Diseases Division of the Center for Health Protection of the Department of Health, said that the boy had a higher CT value (ie, a low viral load). However, due to the boy’s early childhood, the mask wearing condition may not be ideal, so the students and teachers and students in the same class have agreed together 20 people will be sent to the hotel for quarantine.

The Social Welfare Department will provide toys, books, and necessary supplies to children who must be quarantined.

In addition, an employee of BGI was diagnosed earlier. He had been vaccinated with two doses of Fubitai vaccine and was regularly tested for the virus due to work needs.

Zhang Zhujun said that after analyzing the man’s genetic sample, it was found that the relevant gene was not similar to the virus strain currently circulating locally, and was closer to the virus strain circulating in Wuhan at the beginning of the epidemic. Therefore, he believed that the man did not look like a real infection, or had a chance of being infected. If the sample is contaminated, the Center for Health Protection will continue to analyze and research.

About 10 close contacts of the man were temporarily asymptomatic and all tested negative.

Zhang Zhujun said that after it is determined that the man's sample was contaminated, the Health Protection Center will delete the case, and close contacts must undergo another virus test. If it is still negative, the quarantine can be terminated.

Yu Huiling, Chief Administrative Manager (Medical Effectiveness and Technology Management) of the Hong Kong Hospital Authority, said that as of 9 am, in the past 24 hours, 6 more confirmed patients have recovered and been discharged. So far, 11,521 confirmed patients have recovered and discharged.

There are still 56 confirmed patients in hospital, of which 2 are in critical condition, 1 is serious, and 53 are stable.
