On May 15, 1891, the Soviet writer, playwright and translator Mikhail Afanasyevich Bulgakov was born. He received his medical education, later worked in journalism and served in the People's Commissar of Education. Among the most famous works of the writer are the plays "Zoykina's Apartment" and "Running", the story "Heart of a Dog", the novel "The White Guard". Bulgakov found it difficult to publish his books and stage plays because of his difficult relationship with the authorities. The novel "The Master and Margarita", which brought the writer worldwide fame, was published only a quarter of a century after his death.
