Leopard escaped on April 19
Two days ago, the Fuyang District of Hangzhou City officially issued a notice saying that at 20 o'clock on May 7th, people called the police that a suspected leopard had been found in the local Jinyuan Villa, Yinhu Street.
After a joint investigation by relevant departments of Fuyang District, it was determined that 3 juvenile leopards had escaped from Hangzhou Wildlife World, and one of them has been captured and recovered.
At the press conference on the 10th, Wang Hong, the deputy mayor of Hangzhou Municipal Government, gave a detailed introduction on the incident.
On May 6th and 7th, 110 people were called to the police and found suspected leopard tracks twice.
Staff from the forestry departments of Zhejiang Province, Hangzhou City, and Fuyang District rushed to Longmenkan Village, Zhuantang Street, Xihu District, Hangzhou City, and Yinhu Street, Fuyang District, to conduct on-site investigations.
From the afternoon of May 6th to 7th, the forestry departments of Hangzhou City and Fuyang District repeatedly asked the deputy director of Hangzhou Zoo Changjiang Zhi and the manager of Hangzhou Wildlife World Management Department Ma Jinghua and other persons in charge whether there were any animals escaped. The two zoos stated that they did not.
Until 23:30 on May 7th, Ma Jinghua confessed: 3 sub-adult leopards escaped from the animal quarantine area of Hangzhou Wildlife World at 10 o'clock on April 19th. On April 21st, Hangzhou Wildlife World organized a search on its own. Anesthetized and captured 1 Leopard, but there are still 2 at large.

At the press conference, Fei Yuezhong, deputy director of the Hangzhou Public Security Bureau, introduced that on the evening of May 7, after it was determined that the Leopard was an escape from Hangzhou Wildlife World Co., Ltd., the public security agency immediately intervened in the investigation.
Preliminary investigation revealed that on the morning of April 19, the company’s breeders Han and Wang from the animal breeding farm violated safety procedures when cleaning the leopard cages, causing three young leopards in captivity to escape.
After learning of the situation, Zhang Mouquan, the company’s legal representative and general manager, immediately convened the company’s management personnel to discuss. He believed that if the truthful announcement and report to the competent authority would seriously affect the business of Hangzhou Wildlife World during the "May 1st" period, he decided to conceal it. Do not report, and conduct private searches on their own.
On the evening of April 21, the garden party captured one of the escaped leopards near Dongwushan Village in Hangzhou.
That night, Zhang Mouquan once again convened a meeting with the company's management personnel to discuss, and decided to continue to conceal it and not report it, and asked the insiders of the company not to disclose it to the outside world.
According to Fei Yuezhong, the company kept concealing the situation and continued to organize a private search. It was not until the second leopard was discovered on the evening of May 7 that it was pressured to report the situation to the Fuyang District Forestry Department and other relevant departments.
At present, the public security organs have filed investigations on the suspected crimes of the escape of the leopard by the relevant personnel of Hangzhou Wildlife World Co., Ltd., and on the 10th, the company’s legal representative and general manager Zhang Mouquan and related persons responsible for crimes suspected of endangering public safety have been investigated. Five people took criminal coercive measures, and the case is currently under further investigation.
