With the expansion of the vaccination campaign to over 50s from Monday and Wednesday to over 18s for the doses available at the end of the day, a new organization is needed in France.

To facilitate appointment scheduling, the creator of "Covid-Tracker" has devised a new feature.

INTERVIEW

From this Monday, vaccination against Covid-19 will be extended to all people over 50 in France, instead of May 15 initially planned.

The doses available at the end of the day will also be open to all the following day "without age limit" from Wednesday 12 May.

And to be able to reserve these vacant slots, Guillaume Rozier, engineer and creator of

Covid-Tracker

and

Vite Ma Dose

, is launching

ChronoDose

.

A new feature to find a vaccine near you within 24 hours, which will be rolled out in the coming days.

"Between 5,000 and 30,000 vacant slots per day"

"To access

ChronoDose

, you will always have to go through the website or the

Vite Ma Dose

application

This tool will make it possible to display in a very clear and very legible way, all the appointments that can be reserved by those over 18 years without any particular condition of eligibility, "he explained on Europe Matin Monday.

These appointments will therefore be fixed for the same day or for the next day.

For him, if it is very difficult to quantify the number of slots left vacant each day, the order of magnitude is several thousand.

"We are probably between 5000 and 30.00 appointments not taken. So that will allow the vaccination campaign to be slightly accelerated. But on the other hand, it will not allow mass vaccination of young people. For that, we will have to wait a few more weeks. since the total opening of vaccination to the entire population over 18 is still scheduled for June 15, "he continued.

An entirely voluntary project

With the boost given to the campaign this week, Guillaume Rozier expects a sharp increase in traffic to his site.

“Today there are around 2 to 3 million visits per day. And that is expected to increase in the coming days and weeks. The downloads of the mobile application have exploded in recent hours, and we are in the process of deploying solutions to withstand the shock ".

Especially since these platforms have become central in France and are even recommended by the Head of State himself.

But Guillaume Rozier recalls that he and his team work entirely on a voluntary basis.

"There are around a hundred of us around this non-profit project, working day and night. There are students, professionals in the field ... All the code is open source, that is to say that it is public and that each one can consult it or propose modifications in a collaborative way, specified the engineer. It is considered that it is important and useful. It is the building stone which one brings to accelerate the vaccination campaign in France ".
