• Marseille is launching a new game-course in the Basket on the theme of benevolence.

In Aix, an outdoor escape game has been developed.

    • Created in Vaucluse, the “Intrigues dans la ville” kits continue their great adventure.

Second tourist season under the sign of the pandemic, but a season this time less taken by surprise. "We had already initiated things last year, there it matured," says Isabelle Durand, in charge of urban and cultural tourism at the metropolitan tourist office in Marseille. In his pocket, in addition to the treasure hunt in the Basket now offered during all school holidays, a new game course has been designed in this historic district ... on the theme of benevolence. A booklet is available free of charge at the office.

"It's a journey to do with the family which feels good, which corresponds to the idea that we can do simple things, refocus on important things, it is also a way of rediscovering one's city, continues Isabelle. Durand.

We also worked on outlying districts.

You can certainly go to the Calanques, but you can also have a fabulous view of Marseille by going to La Treille.

This village is a backdrop for Pagnol's films.

A new route is thus marked there.

    Escape game in Aix

In Avignon, a dozen new tours have been launched. "We thought about a different offer that can adapt to changes in the health situation, so that people can meet outside," says Sylvie Joly, communication service of the tourist office. Bike or canoe-kayak tours with a naturalist guide are on the program, combining cultural and sporting activities. In Aix-en-Provence, a new outdoor escape game has been developed. In this case, the project was launched before the health crisis, which rather delayed its realization. The players' mission: to save the works of Paul Cézanne.

“We wanted to give another way to visit the city,” explains Arthur Carlier, Aix-en-Provence tour guide for Secrets d'Ici and co-designer of the game with the company Atlantide.

The game, downloadable on a smartphone (3 euros), completes the range of thematic guided tours of Aix and the surrounding villages.

"We were lucky to have developed an offer that is not only for tourists who come from far away," continues Arthur Carlier.

    There is a new look.

Over the past year, many more people have taken an interest in these tours.

We have managed to maintain ourselves thanks to this local tourism.

    Intrigues in town

"The" gamification "of tourism goes back a few years," observes Odile Devise, who created her first game "Intrigue in the city" in 2017 in Pernes-les-Fontaines, in the Vaucluse. “The idea was to be educational, we don't just want to do treasure hunts for fun, but so that it is intergenerational and a support for diving into an era, discovering a city. »She designed 17 plots on cities (Avignon, Salon-de-Provence, Marignane ..) and villages (Vaison-la-Romaine, Mornas…), and as many kits sold between 10 and 12 euros in tourist offices .

“Last summer, when the municipalities had to cancel a lot of things as a group, this responded to a request,” continues Odile Devise. It is a type of visit that is done independently with family or friends. "" It is also a game that can be played outdoors at any time of the year, apart from the health crisis we aim to develop off-season tourism ", adds Florence Nolorgues to the tourist office of Saint-Rémy-de-Provence / Alpilles in Provence.

This game is a novelty for the summer, and invites you to discover another face of Saint-Rémy, which is not only that of Van Gogh or the Antiques, but also that of the cultivation of seeds and teasel thistle which have makes its wealth.

A new enigma in the works for “Intrigue dans la ville”: the Dentelles de Montmirail, the first destination in France in the “Le Monde” 2021 travel list.
