Good news.

For the third week in a row, the Covid-19 contamination figures are down in the Pays-de-la-Loire region, according to the latest epidemiological bulletin unveiled on Friday evening by the regional health agency (ARS).

The regional incidence rate thus stands at 167 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, against 234 a week earlier.

Vendée (135), Loire-Atlantique (155) and Maine-et-Loire (157) are below, while Sarthe peaks at 255. The national incidence rate is 214 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.

The positivity rate of people presenting for screening is also decreasing.

As well as the volume of hospitalizations and, for the first time, the number of patients placed in intensive care.

“The decline continues.

It is extremely encouraging.

The Ligériens were at the rendezvous of the efforts ”, welcomes Jean-Jacques Coiplet, regional director of the ARS.

Vaccination begins to weigh down

If this positive trend is the logical consequence of the month of confinement, it is also partly explained by the (late) rise in importance of vaccination.

More than 1.3 million people have now received at least their first dose of vaccine in Pays-de-la-Loire, or 23% of the entire population.

This vaccination rate climbs to 30% in adults, to 78% in 65-74 year olds and even to 81% in those over 75 years old.

However, the regional health agency (ARS) warns of the need not to forget the screening before the bridges of Ascension and Pentecost.

“Let’s not forget to get tested before reuniting with family and friends.

A decrease in screening increases the risk of a resumption of an epidemic, ”she points out.
