The health authorities in Germany

reported

15,685 new corona infections to

the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) within one day

.

This is evident from the figures from Saturday morning, which reflect the status of the RKI dashboard at 5:15 a.m.

For comparison: on Saturday a week ago, the value was 18,935.

According to the RKI, the

number of

new infections reported within seven days per 100,000 inhabitants

was

121.5

nationwide on Saturday morning

(previous day: 125.7; previous week: 148.6).

According to the RKI dashboard, 814,037 vaccine doses were administered on Friday.

This means that 7,572,228 people (9.1% of the total population) are fully vaccinated.

A total of 26,854,545 people (32.3%) received at least one vaccination dose.

According to the information,

238 new deaths were

recorded across

Germany within 24 hours

.

A week ago there were 232 deaths.

The RKI has counted a total of 3,507,673 detected infections with Sars-CoV-2 since the beginning of the pandemic.

The actual total number is likely to be significantly higher, however, since many infections are not recognized.

The RKI stated the number of those who had recovered at around 3,147,100.

The number of people who died with or with a proven infection with Sars-CoV-2 rose to 84,648.

The nationwide

seven-day R-value

was

0.91

according to the RKI management report from Friday evening

(previous day: 0.88).

This means that 100 infected people theoretically infect 91 more people.

The R-value represents the occurrence of the infection 8 to 16 days ago.

If it is below 1 for a longer period of time, the infection process subsides;

if it is consistently higher, the number of cases increases.

Coronavirus in Europe

In

Switzerland

, the reported corona infections are falling despite far-reaching easing of the corona measures.

In the week from April 26 to May 2, the number of reported infections decreased by around 18 percent, as the Federal Office of Public Health reported on Thursday.

The

incidence

per 100,000 inhabitants fell from

168.8 to 137.8

infections, but at the same time the number of deaths rose from 50 to 59.

The office presents figures on the newly reported infections on a daily basis, but only calculates the 14-day incidence on a daily basis.

The seven-day incidence is calculated once a week.

On Thursday, a total of 1687 new infections were reported within 24 hours, compared with 2066 a week ago.

At the beginning of March, shops, theaters, cinemas, zoos, fitness centers and leisure facilities were reopened in Switzerland, and the restaurant terraces were also reopened in mid-April.

Hygiene concepts apply everywhere, with rules such as keeping your distance, wearing a mask and maximum limits for visitors.

The corona infection

situation

in

Italy continues to

improve.

In the weekly Corona status report on Friday, the experts from the Ministry of Health spoke of a further slowly falling infection curve.

Accordingly, the currently calculated 7-day incidence value up to and including Thursday was an average of 123 cases per 100,000 inhabitants after 148 in the previous week.

Coronavirus worldwide

India

reported more than 400,000 new corona infections for the third day in a row and, with 4,187 deaths related to the virus, more than ever before. The number of confirmed infections rose within 24 hours by 401,078 to 21.9 million, as the Ministry of Health announced on Saturday. This is the second highest value worldwide after the USA. It was not until Friday that a high was recorded with more than 414,000 new infections. In addition, the authorities now count almost 240,000 people who have died from or with the virus.

The

World Health Organization (WHO)

warned of the risk of further devastating corona outbreaks along the lines of India.

In several other countries, the right precautions were lacking, said WHO emergency aid coordinator Mike Ryan in Geneva on Friday.

"This virus has tremendous kinetic energy," said Ryan.

"It has massive infectious power, and we have to slow the spread." In some countries, the situation is already developing in a similar way to India, said Ryan, without giving a name.

WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus later mentioned the tense situation in Brazil and Nepal.

Other countries could soon find themselves in a similar emergency.

The vaccinations alone are not yet the sufficient answer, said Ryan, referring to the far too small production and the uneven distribution of vaccines in the world.

According to the CDC,

around 33 percent of Americans have

already been vaccinated twice. The CDC announced that almost 111 million people received a second dose of a vaccine. A good 150 million people have been vaccinated once.
