Beijing Customs reported on May 8 that in the past few days, the post office of Beijing Customs has intercepted 3 consecutive mails sent from overseas that were falsely reported as "toys" at the express mail supervision site.

After inspection, there are several disposable plastic lunch boxes in the mail. Each lunch box contains 1 to 2 live beetles, totaling 20 beetles.

Among them, 3 species of beetles were intercepted for the first time at Beijing Port.

The post office under Beijing Customs will temporarily detain the above-mentioned mails and send them to relevant agencies for species identification.

After identification, these 20 beetles are Sumatran subspecies of orange-backed horned stag beetle (5 males and 4 females), Indonesian golden stag beetle (2 males and 5 females), large umbrella vertical horn pockets (1 male and 1 female), and halberd Pouchworm (1 male and 1 female).

The first three are intercepted at Beijing Port for the first time.

According to the "Biosafety Law of the People's Republic of China", no unit or individual may introduce, release or discard alien species without approval.

According to the "List of Animals, Plants and Products Prohibited from Carrying and Mailing in the People's Republic of China", live animals such as beetles are prohibited from being carried or mailed into the country without the approval of the competent administrative department of my country.

The beetles intercepted this time are both female and male live adults. Once they escape and colonize, they will pose a threat to the local ecological environment.

Beijing Customs reminds the general public that they must understand and abide by relevant national laws and regulations, and do not bring or post live animals that are prohibited from entering the country.
