'Mureungdowondo', a green mountain sign painted by Lee Sang-beom at the age of 25, is considered a masterpiece that continues the tradition of Ahn Jung-sik's'Dowonmunjindo'.



It was a work known only for its existence, but with this donation, it came to light in about 100 years.



Kim Whanki's'Women and Jars' was also difficult to see after the 1980s, but there was an opportunity to appreciate it again.



The National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Korea, today (7th) unveiled details of art donated by the late Samsung Group chairman Lee Kun-hee, including these works.



The donation is 1,488 items (1,226 items), including 1,369 works by 238 Korean contemporary and contemporary artists and 119 works by 8 foreign contemporary artists.



Various genre works were included in the order of 412 paintings, 371 prints, 296 Korean paintings, 161 drawings, 136 crafts, and 104 sculptures.



By production period, there are 320 works produced until the 1950s, accounting for about 22% of the total donated items.



Based on the author's birth year, about 860 works of authors who were born before 1930 and fall into the category of modern artists accounted for about 58%.



By artist, Yoo Youngkuk has the most with 187 works (20 paintings, 167 prints), Lee Joongsup 104 works (19 paintings, 43 postcards, 27 Eunji paintings, etc.), Kangyeol Yoo 68, Ukjin Jang 60, Eungno Lee 56 It was ranked in the order of points, Park Soo-geun 33 points, Byun Kwan-sik 25, and Kwon Jin-gyu 24 points.



The National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art explained that this donation has dramatically improved the quality and quantity of modern art collections.



Among the collections of the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, there were only 960 works produced before the 1950s.



The donations included a large number of Korean paintings such as Eunho Kim, Sangbeom Lee, Kwansik Byun, Kichang Kim, and Raehyun Park.



In addition to Lee Sang-beom's'Mureungdowondo,' known as Roh Soo-hyun's masterpiece,'Gyesan Spirit' (1957), Kim Eun-ho's early coloring,'Ganseong' (1927), Kim Ki-chang's masterpiece'Gunma Island' (1955), etc. There are.

The'Lee Kun-hee Collection', donated to the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, will be showcased at the exhibition'Korean Beauty, Yesterday and Today' held at Deoksugung Hall in July, and some works such as Do Sang-bong's paintings will be shown for the first time.



The full-scale release will take place in the exhibition'Lee Kun-hee Collection Part 1: Modern Luxury Goods' (tentative title), which will be held in the Seoul Pavilion from August.



About 40 pieces of modern and contemporary Korean works are on display.



In December's'Lee Kun-hee Collection Part 2: Overseas Master' (tentative title), Monet, Renoir, Picasso, etc. Show off.



Donated works will also be featured in the Park Soo-geun Retrospective Exhibition in November this year and the Korean Modern Art Exhibition held at the Los Angeles County Museum (LACMA) in September next year.



Various works will be exhibited at Gwacheon Hall and Cheongju Hall.



Next year, a special tour in conjunction with local art museums will also be held.

Kim Whan-ki's'Women and Jars' was selected as a special donation work that stands out.



This is a 568cm-wide masterpiece made in the 1950s.



Materials that the artist liked, such as women holding Joseon white porcelain or wearing them on their heads, flowers and birds, appear.



Director Yoon said, "It is the biggest representative work among Kim Whan-ki's works," and "I thought that if I put it on an auction, I should start with 30 to 40 billion won."



The National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art has said that it is the first time that a mass donation of more than 1,000 items has been donated, and that this donation has been added to the existing 8,782 items to reach the era of 10,000 items in its collection.



All donated works were put into the storage of Gwacheon Hall.



The official name is'Lee Kun-hee Collection', which will be released sequentially on the website of the museum.



The National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Korea plans to conduct basic academic research by next year and hold an academic event with the publication of a catalog of the collection of the'Lee Kun-hee Collection'.
