China News Service, May 7th. Recently, some netizens reported that the Metasequoia forest in Datong Wetland Park in Huainan, Anhui Province has not spewed green and was confirmed to be dead after on-site investigation. The official Weibo of Datong District People’s Government of Huainan City, Anhui Province issued a response on the 6th. According to on-site investigations, some metasequoia trees (about 200) on the south side of the water surface of the Shuungengshan Wetland Park (formerly Datong Wetland Park) on the east side of Huaishun South Road in Huainan City have died. The abnormal growth of Metasequoia trees was found, and on-site inspection was carried out. It was determined that the ground collapsed naturally (the wetland park was built by covering an abandoned small coal mine to plant trees), and the drop in water level caused insufficient absorption by the roots of the trees. Withered by moisture.

The response stated that the wetland park management department has applied for approval of thinning dead trees, and the next step will be to plant Luan Shu, Qingtong and other drought-tolerant trees in time to restore the green landscape.
