After replenishing brine and widening and repairing salt channels, Mangya Emerald Lake, a "net celebrity" scenic spot in the Qaidam Basin, was officially opened to the public on May 1, and has attracted thousands of tourists to visit.

Mangya, which means "forehead" in Mongolian, is located in the westernmost part of Haixi Prefecture, Qinghai.

"Emerald Lake" belongs to the magnesium sulfate subtype salt lake. It is the third largest artificial lake in Haixi Prefecture, covering an area of more than 26 square kilometers. It produces good quality potassium, magnesium, lithium and other elements.

Because the salt bed is alternately and crystal-clear with light green, emerald green and deep blue lake water, the locals call it "Emerald Lake".

Statistics show that affected by the epidemic last year, the flow of outbound tourists returned to the domestic market. Gansu, Qinghai, Inner Mongolia and other northwestern “low-risk areas” with few beautiful scenery and beautiful people became popular.

According to statistics from the Qinghai Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, during the May 1st holiday this year, Qinghai received 2.468 million tourists, an increase of 101.8% year-on-year in 2020, and tourism revenue was 1.164 billion yuan, an increase of 153% year-on-year.
