The Ministry of Health has reported

6,317 new cases of coronavirus

this Wednesday

, 1,802 more than on Tuesday (4,515).

Thus, the downward trend in the number of infections in recent days is broken.

In total, since the beginning of the health crisis, 3,551,262 infections have already been confirmed in our country.

Deaths from coronavirus also increase to 167, compared to 106 the previous day.

Deaths in the last seven days amount to 238. According to official data, since the beginning of the pandemic the virus has already claimed the lives of 78,566 people in Spain.

The cumulative incidence, however, continues to decrease, as in previous days, and stands at 205.52 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the last 14 days.

It is also confirmed by the incidence at seven days (87.37), key to quickly detect trend changes and which also decreases with respect to the previous day (93.28).

The situation in the autonomous communities continues to be very uneven

. Those in a more delicate situation are the Basque Country, with an incidence of 478.27 cases per 100,000 inhabitants; Madrid (329.12), Melilla (327.30) and Navarra (313.67). At maximum risk, above the threshold of 250, Aragon (297.88), La Rioja (283.20) and Catalonia (253.89) also remain. And, on the other hand, those that worry the least are, as usual, the Valencian Community (42.10), the Balearic Islands (61.29), Murcia (71.66), Galicia (95.31) and the Canary Islands (96 , 00), with an incidence of less than 100.

Hospital occupancy due to coronavirus drops to 7.26%, and it already celebrates a week of slight decreases, inviting optimism.

In total, there are 9,132 Covid patients admitted to Spanish hospitals.

The pressure in the Intensive Care Units (ICU) also decreases slightly, until 22.25.

Saturation in ICUs is still led by Madrid (41.95%)

, followed by the Basque Country (38.16%), La Rioja (35.85%), Ceuta (35.29) and Catalonia (35.19%) .

On the contrary, the regions with less pressure in ICUs continue to be Extremadura (4.78%), Valencian Community (5.78%) and Murcia (5.89%).

It should not be forgotten that these percentages only reflect those admitted to Intensive Care due to Covid and that, to calculate the real occupation, it would be necessary to add those who remain there due to other pathologies and surgeries.

In Europe, the worst incidence is in Sweden, with 718.10 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.

The situation also continues to be worrying for Turkey, which last Friday began its first total confinement of the pandemic and whose incidence, although decreasing, stands at 703.10.

They are followed by the Netherlands, with 612.5.

The Europeans in the best situation are the British, with an incidence of 45.7;

the Portuguese (54.8) and the Russians (83.5).

Darias highlights that the communities will have "sufficient measures" against the coronavirus

Carolina Darias, Minister of Health, has appeared after the Interterritorial Council, in which the central government and the autonomous communities participate. This afternoon was

the last meeting of the co-governance body before the current state of alarm subsides

. Before the media, he defended that the Royal Decree Law approved by the Council of Ministers on Tuesday will give the autonomous communities the possibility of "taking measures within the scope of their competences". He has also referred to the declarations of coordinated actions approved throughout the pandemic and which, as he has indicated, "remain in force."

The head of Health has been asked if she does not consider that the fact that a majority of autonomous communities have been contrary to that Royal Decree has been able to harm co-governance.

"I respect the positions carried out by the autonomous communities, and they have stated this in the Council," replied Darias, who has not changed his arguments.

"The autonomous communities have instruments in accordance with ordinary legislation," he insisted.

Carolina Darias considers that the state of alarm "is foreseen for exceptional situations, not for it to remain sine die" and recalls that it "was the object of harsh criticism" when it was approved.

"We were right", he has assessed the duration of the current legal situation, although he has insisted that it will not be necessary to prolong it.

From his point of view, "many autonomous communities are already relaxing measures" because their incidence is less than 100 and in all of them, the current scenario, given the rate of vaccination, "is totally different." With these arguments, the minister stressed that the communities have at their disposal

"sufficient measures to continue keeping the virus at bay."

It has also indicated that "we have not always been in a state of alarm" throughout the pandemic.

Minister Darias has expressed the slight downward trend shown by the data for this Wednesday. "We would be in this general downward trend," he said, although he highlighted the unequal situation between communities, with two of them on the rise. On the Indian variant, Darias has reported that Spain currently maintains "two outbreaks, with eleven people associated with those outbreaks."

Regarding vaccines, the Health Minister stressed that around two million doses will be distributed this week and praised the acceleration in the pace of the campaign.

"They have been put, from last Wednesday to today, 2.5 million doses," he celebrated.

According to their data, in these seven days there has been an increase of 1.4 million people who have already received a dose and another 1.2 million who already have the full schedule.

"We are going like a shot, allow me the expression," he

said before commenting that Spain is among the four in the EU with the highest pace in the last week.
