SERIELAND RECO / CONSEIL: "Dollface", a feminist comedy available since mid-April on Disney +, is a concentrate of humor.

She takes us into the daily life of a young woman who, after a heartbreak, will reconnect with her friends to go up the slope.

The absurd and sometimes fantastic staging is astonishing and the writing very fine.

This is the crush of Thomas Destouches, series journalist for Télécâble Sat Hebdo.

Why should you watch Dollface?

>> Because it's a series that goes beyond comedy

Dollface

goes beyond the genre of comedy by tending towards the fantastic. It stages ubiquitous and hilarious situations. As proof, in the first episode, Jules gets on a bus filled with weeping women, left by their companion. This beautiful little world arrives at a strange marshalling yard to decide their future. The person in charge of the counter at this astonishing place undertakes an inventory of Jules' love and friendship life. In this absurd scene, she is stunned with questions such as: "Have you slept with a friend's boyfriend lately?" because of her period lately? " After this crazy questionnaire, the ticket clerk draws up a not very encouraging assessment of Jules' friendly situation. All of his friendships have "expired" ....

>> Because it's a subtly written feminist series

The writing is fine and the dialogues are punchy.

Dollface

fully assumes her fantasy and subversion without ever apologizing or warning.

The caricature is sometimes huge but never unframed.

Behind this apparent lightness, the fiction also delivers with acuity reflections on feminism, the importance of sorority and the injunctions which weigh on women.

>> Because the main interpreter Kat Dennings is bluffing

Actress Kat Dennings brings a lot to the series.

She was revealed in the fictional

2 Broke Girls

and more recently in the Marvel series

WandaVision

.

In

Dollface

, Kat Dennings is impressive.

Her naturalness equals her precision and the dramatic effort is never perceptible in her acting. The actress constantly has irony on the corners of her lips, you never know if she is serious or not and it is particularly enjoyable.
