In response to the development of corona infections, FDP boss Christian Lindner calls for further easing, even for people with a negative test.
"In view of the decline in the number of infections and the significantly accelerated vaccination campaign, steps must now be taken to open the door," said Linder on Tuesday.
"Outside of hotspots, the 3G rule should apply throughout Germany: restaurants, retailers, hotels, museums, theaters and cinemas with protective concepts should reopen for vaccinated, convalescent and tested people."
For those who have been completely vaccinated and recovered, the corona rules could be relaxed from the weekend.
The federal government passed a corresponding ordinance on Tuesday, clearing the way for a quick decision in the Bundestag and Bundesrat.
The number of deaths in Germany in the 16th calendar week (April 19th to 25th) was above the average of previous years.
A total of 19,387 people died in the period, as the Federal Statistical Office announced in Wiesbaden on Tuesday.
That is eight percent or 1385 cases more than the average for the years 2017 to 2020 for this calendar week, it said.
A week earlier, the increase was only three percent compared to previous years.
