Shortly after noon on the 4th, a 20-year-old man who had come to a barbecue with a friend on the riverbed of the Tama River in Kawasaki City was found drowning in the river and died shortly thereafter.

Around 1 pm on the 4th, the police were notified that "a friend seems to have drowned" in the Tama River in Nakahara Ward, Kawasaki City.

A search by police and fire department found a man sinking in a river near the scene about 40 minutes later and was taken to the hospital, but died shortly thereafter.

According to police, the dead man is a 20-year-old office worker living in Yokohama, who came to the riverbed to have a barbecue with about 10 friends and was drowning while playing in the river.

Since the site is an area where barbecue was prohibited, the police are investigating the detailed situation at that time by listening to friends.

Kawasaki City has been a target area of "Priority Measures for Prevention of Spread" since April 20, and Kanagawa Prefecture is calling for unnecessary and urgent refraining from going out.
