  The transformation of the ecological environment of the Heishantou basalt mine in Hebi City is a microcosm of the renovation of Henan open-pit mines in recent years.

  The reporter learned from the Henan Provincial Department of Natural Resources on the 29th that in the past five years, Henan Province has completed a total of more than 450,000 mu of mine geological environment treatment, of which 190,800 acres of production mines and 261,700 acres of mines have been lost.

In 2020 alone, the province’s main responsible entities lost 168,600 mu of mines and restored the area under treatment, which exceeded the total area under treatment in the previous three years.

The restoration and treatment area of ​​19,600 acres of industrial and mining land remediation projects around the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and the Fenwei Plain are currently undergoing provincial acceptance.

The Yellow River Basin (Henan Province) historic abandoned mine treatment project has completed the treatment area of ​​11,500 mu, accounting for 94% of the assigned treatment area.

  Regarding the renovation and restoration of open-pit mines, Henan adheres to the principle of “building if it is suitable for construction, tilling if it is suitable for farming, foresting if it is suitable for forests, and scenery if it is suitable for scenery”. One mine has one policy, the ecological restoration of mines is promoted in an orderly manner and the construction of green mines is steadily advanced .

At present, 92 mines in Henan province are included in the national green mine list, ranking first in the country in number.
