For a little over two weeks, the number of Covid-19 patients hospitalized in these services has been close to 6,000 patients.

A figure below the peak of the first wave in April 2020 (around 7,000) but higher than that of the second wave in the fall (4,900).

It was 5,053 on March 31, during Emmanuel Macron's speech announcing additional restrictive measures.

1,711 new hospitalizations in the last 24 hours

The number of Covid patients in hospital also continued to decline, to 29,487 against 29,911 the day before, with 1,711 new hospitalizations in the last 24 hours.

321 Covid patients have died in hospital in the past 24 hours.

The President of the Republic announced Thursday in an interview with several dailies the schedule of the next steps in the lifting of the restrictive measures. However, he specified that "emergency brakes" to block reopening could be activated in certain metropolitan areas and departments "according to three criteria: the incidence rate which would again exceed 400 infections per 100,000 inhabitants, a very sudden increase of this rate and a threat of saturation of intensive care services ".
