INTERVIEW

Dealing with topical subjects that are sometimes taboo has become, over the years, the hallmark of

Plus belle la vie

.

The series of France 3 is no exception to its habit, Wednesday evening.

She will broadcast an episode during which one of her male characters is a victim of rape.

Guest of the

Culture Médias program a

few hours before this broadcast, the producer of the soap opera Géraldine Gendre explains what decided the teams of

Plus belle la vie

to now deal with this subject, which she had been considering for a long time.

"The question was when we allowed ourselves to broadcast it," she confirms.

"The liberation of women's speech allows a liberation of men's speech"

The subject gave rise to conversations between the teams of the soap opera and those of France Télévisions.

It was finally a press article that decided Géraldine Gendre to get started.

"What put me on the alert, it is a portrait around Marine Turchi, the journalist who had made a Médiapart survey on #MeToo, the interview of Adèle Haenel, etc.", explains the producer.

And she specifies the link between this portrait and the subject of the rape of a man. "Marie Turchi specified that the release of speech revealed rather surprising figures" remembers Geraldine Genre. "Out of all the testimonies that she could receive, there were 20% of testimonies of male victims, which is a novelty. When we realized that this liberation of speech with women also allowed a liberation of the Word to men, we said to ourselves that it was time to talk about it, because a breach has opened. " The episode in question of

Plus belle la vie

is broadcast Wednesday evening on France 3, from 8:20 p.m.
