  The Paper previously reported that Wu Chunhong, 51, is from Minquan County, Shangqiu, Henan. On November 15, 2004, a poisoning case occurred in Zhougang Village, Minquan County. Two children were poisoned by Tetramine. One died and the other was injured. Wu Chunhong was killed. Determined to "retaliate by poisoning" due to trivial matters.

  From June 2005 to October 2007, Shangqiu City Intermediate Court sentenced Wu Chunhong to death with reprieve for intentional homicide three times, but was remanded for retrial by the Henan Provincial High Court on the grounds of “unclear facts”.

After the fourth trial by Shangqiu City Intermediate Court, Wu Chunhong was sentenced to life imprisonment again for intentional homicide.

After Wu Chunhong filed an appeal, the Henan Higher People's Court ruled to reject the appeal and uphold the original verdict.

In September 2018, the Supreme Law made a retrial decision, deeming that Wu Chunhong’s evidence for the crime of intentional homicide was unreliable and insufficient, and ordered the Henan High Court to conduct a retrial.

On April 1, 2020, the Henan Higher People's Court revoked the previous criminal ruling of the court and the previous criminal incidental civil sentence of the Intermediate People's Court of Shangqiu City, Henan Province.

Wu Chunhong was acquitted and released in court. At this time, Wu Chunhong had been detained for more than 15 years.

  On June 2, 2020, Wu Chunhong, who had been in custody for more than 5,600 days, applied for state compensation to the Henan High Court after being innocent, asking for a total of 18.72 million yuan in compensation.

Two months later, the Henan Higher People's Court made a national compensation decision, deciding to compensate more than 2.62 million yuan, including 1.945 million yuan in compensation for Wu Chunhong’s freedom of life and 680,000 yuan in compensation for mental damage.

  On August 18, Wu Chunhong filed an application for reconsideration of state compensation to the Supreme Law, which was accepted.

On the morning of October 29, the Sixth Court of the Supreme Court opened a court session to hear the national compensation case, but the judgment was not pronounced in court.

  More than 15 years of prison life has affected Wu Chunhong's health.

After returning to his hometown, Wu Chunhong was suffering from illness.

Earlier, Wu Chunhong's daughter, Wu Lili, told The Paper that Wu Chunhong's life after innocence was still focused on treatment, and his skin and eye diseases were still being treated.
